VideoJug – Life explained. On Film

Posted by Sally on June 8th, 2007

videojug_2.pngToday I am taking a look at VideoJug.com.

It’s a really interesting concept in that all of life’s big and small questions are answered on this comprehensive video website. All videos have been professionally made and content researched before going live. User generated video is carefully vetted before released.

I was quite impressed in the categories (too many to list here) but focused on the Health + Medicine along with Sports + Fitness.

The first thing that I noticed was the large selection of videos! What impressed me is that the team at VideoJug hasn’t just settled on producing one video per condition but provided the user with a variety of topical information ranging from diagnosis through to treatments or factual information.

The video player works well and the videos are high quality which makes for pleasant viewing. I also like that videos have been created using health professionals or health organisations. This is so critical when dealing with health information. You need to know that what you are watching is accurate and from a trusted source.

I like the way they have set out the site. Navigation is intuitive and popular videos are listed depending on the category you have selected.

Looking at the Sports + Fitness section was quite fun. I watched a video on how to improve my golf swing. This will come in handy for when I actually take up the game!
Other sections included topics on exercise, tennis, weight training, yoga and workouts, just to name a few.

It’s a great site and one to bookmark.

HEALTHmap | Global disease alert mapping system

Posted by Sally on October 20th, 2006

I came across this site by accident tonight and am really impressed with what they have created.

Using a variety of data sources including Google maps, Google news and official alerts from sources such as the World Health Organization, you can see a world view with reali-time data on disease by location. Very impressive guys.
