This week iHealth posted two videos called The PhotoShop Effect. It gives some insight into the media industry and their practice of retouching images. The Beautiful Women Project is working towards educating women on the importance of loving themselves and their bodies and not trying to be like the models and personalities in our media, who in the majority of cases have had their images retouched.
Here are the two videos on our site Impossible body image and Impossible Body Image Part 2

Yep, you read right. Apparently women working out on Nintendo Wii Fit are damaging their homes to the tune of around $40 million.
Vigorous exercise routines are creating havoc in homes with pots, pets and tv’s inadvertently kicked during workouts resulting in repair bills and I assume veterinary bills!
A poll conducted by an insurance company revealed that out of 1000 women, almost 20 per cent admitted having an accident in their home while working out to consoles such as Wii Fit.
I don’t know why but it just makes me laugh thinking about this, possibly because I can imagine my Mom doing something similar.
If you can take one good thing away from this story it’s that women are working out hard even if it comes at the cost of their TV or cat!
This website http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/ is worth a look. You can report damage, look at what others have damaged and see new products out on the market designed to prevent damage.
I’m still laughing with way too may images in my mind!
Tomorrow is Earth Hour 2008 and at 8pm millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour.
Turning off your lights for one hour symbolizes the need to take action and is a small thing you can do in a united effort with others concerned about the affects climate change is having on our planet.
This event started last year in Sydney, Australia and is now going global. No-one is suggesting that turning off our lights for one hour is going to have a huge impact on the planet but I think this event is more about people showing their support for an issue that concerns many of us and inspiring us to conserve energy.
So please try and take part tomorrow, I for one will be finding a nice spot to do a bit of stargazing. Should be pretty neat without all those city lights!
This video gives you a bit of background to Earth Hour 2008.
Ahh, those wacky Japanese and their TV challenge shows.
I realize this has nothing at all to do with health and fitness but if I have to try and pull a something out then lets just say that they certainly do have to work hard on the treadmill. At the very least, their heart rate go up. It’s just a fun video, at least, it made me laugh. I’ve been told I have a strange sense of humor though so it might not be funny to others. Anyway, check it out and see what you think.
The object of the game is to get as far as possible on the treadmill without falling and being subsequently dumped into water. As you get further along you must eat the cookie which speeds the treadmill up.
Okay, so I know this product has been shown on the Ellen Show but it really does make me laugh.
For those who don’t know, the product is the Hawaii Chair and apparently it helps you keep in shape while your sitting down. I can only see one use for it and that’s got nothing to do with fitness.
This got me to thinking about other products out there that make you laugh or possibly even curious as to just how it’s meant to help you lose weight and get those abs you’ve always dreamed of..how infomercial did that just sound ;)
So if you know of a product or are even brave enough to admit purchasing one that just didn’t live up to the infomercial hype, comment or email us, we would love to hear about it.
Sometimes on iHealth we post about people who have passed away that we admired, made a difference or just cracked us up.Today we say farewell to a comic legend, Emily Perry who played Madge the dowdy sidekick of Dame Edna who passed away at the grand old age of 100.Emily Perry got the gig when she was 75 years old and travelled the world, first class with Barry Humphrey who plays Dame Edna. Her character never spoke a word, nor did she smile. She would just sit there while Dame would say the most awful things about her, it really was hilarious to watch!I couldn’t help but post this video. I remember watching it when I lived in London and my friend and I just roared laughing. So good-bye Emily, you made millions laugh, probably one of the most precious gifts a person can have in my opinion.
