			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Posts on interval training are one of the most popular on the iHealth website.</p>
<p>We have put all of our most popular posts on this subject under one heading (<a href="/?cat=130">Interval Training</a>) for easier access and have listed the individual posts here for your reference.</p>
<p>Interval training are repetitions at high-intensity followed by periods of rest or low activity.  </p>
<p>As a matter of fact, Ann, one of our <a href="/?page_id=357">regular contributors</a> mentioned last night at dinner that she has achieved great results at the gym due to interval training.</p>
<p>Ann did note however that most of the information on the web is somewhat unrealistic for someone who is just starting out.  At the moment Ann is doing approximately 4 minutes walking on the treadmill followed by 1 minute of running.  Over time Ann will improve on these times but I think it is sound advice and one you should aim for before trying anything more strenuous. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve been changing up my exercise routine of late after reading about the benefits of <a href="http://www.indenialhealth.com/index.php?s=interval+training"><strong>Interval Training</strong></a>.</p>
<p>Just thought I&#8217;d give you an update on how things are going.</p>
<p>First of all, I must say that it&#8217;s been really enjoyable.  I tend to get quite bored when I exercise which is probably why I love <a href="http://www.indenialhealth.com/?cat=20"><strong>hi-tech fitness equipment</strong></a> so much.  It&#8217;s keep me focused on other things and not the workout!</p>
<p>Adding interval training to my routine has been fun and I find that the time flies by so that&#8217;s really good.</p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t just relied on interval training though.  I like to walk, do some weight training and the <a href="http://www.indenialhealth.com/index.php?s=stair+stepper"><strong>stair stepper</strong></a> if it&#8217;s too hot outside.  So I feel that my body is getting a varied routine.  </p>
<p>The good news is that this morning I put on a pair of my older jeans and they weren&#8217;t uncomfortable to wear..yay!   I did step on the scales and I&#8217;ve lost 3 kilos or 6 pounds.  </p>
<p>So I&#8217;ll continue doing my routine.  It&#8217;s not hard and I&#8217;m enjoying it.</p>

<p>The study was conducted by scientists from the University of NSW and the Garvan Institute.  </p>
<p>It studied 45 overweight women over a 15 week period.  Each were put through a 20 minute cycling regime, sprinting on an exercise bike for 8 seconds and then followed by 12 seconds of regular pace for 40 minutes.</p>
<p>The study showed that the body is prompted to kick into a metobolic response that allows for more fat burning under the skin and within the muscle.</p>
<p>You can apply this form of interval training to swimming, walking, running and rowing.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While watching the local news last night, I was interested to watch a story they did on research just completed in Western Australia which shows that interval training is better for people trying to shed those extra pounds.  In fact, it&#8217;s body of evidence is so strong that there is talk that the Health Department may need to alter the existing guidelines on fitness to include interval training.</p>
<p>For those who don&#8217;t know, interval training is high-intensity exercise periods alternated with periods of rest. These higher and lower intensity periods are repeated several times to form a complete workout.</p>
<p>This video is also worth watching for those interested in doing interval training. The Food Dude, as always, explains it very well!</p>
