The Festive Season is almost upon us and as we start to count down the weeks, invites to parties and events start to increase.

For me, the challenge is to keep my eating in check. The problem I have is that I really love food and around Christmas time, the food is delicious and more often than not, fattening!

I know I am going to eat foods that I shouldn’t and I have no guilt in doing so.

Here’s why. I do not prescribe to this notion that you should feel guilty for eating food. Guilt is a powerful emotion and I have rarely seen much good come from it.
For me and my family, food is an important part of our lives. When my parents visit, it is normal for everyone to be in the kitchen preparing and cooking with plenty of good conversation and sometimes a drop of wine!

So my plan this year as it is every year is to eat healthy food when I am not going out. For the times I am going out, I will try to be sensible when ordering off the menu but if something takes my fancy, I will probably go ahead and order it! After all, it’s the Festive Season!!

More importantly, it can be difficult to fit in regular exercise when your diary is filling up quickly as Christmas approaches. The best advice I can give is to make time. Plan out your day and make sure you fit in some form of exercise. You and your waistline will be glad you did!
