Texting your way to better health
April 3rd, 2008
It’s been a while since I posted about gadgets with a health element, this is mainly due to me just not spending enough time trolling the web but also because a lot of the stuff out there right now is just that, stuff.
It seems that manufacturers are really working the “healthy” angle into many of the products coming out lately. Some are just plain ridiculous and others are in the *What the *&*%^” category, as seen with the Hawaii Chair.
diet.com has come out with something which I think will be of use to many people interested to find out the nutritional value of the foods they are buying.
It’s a texting service called “Nutrition On The Go”. You text Restaurant and the Menu Item to DIET1 (343-81) and instantaneously receive all the nutritional information. For US users only I would imagine ;)
I did have to laugh though when they used the example of standing at Taco Bell and texting for information on the Nacho’s Supreme. I haven’t tried the Nacho Supreme but I’m going out on a limb here and saying that it’s probably not the healthiest option on the menu!
Anyway, I think the service has value for those wanting to keep a close eye on their food intake.
