Whole-grain breakfast cereals good for your heart
March 3rd, 2007
Unlike alot of people, I love porridge. Often when I tell friends this, they screw up their faces which suggests to me that it’s not a favourite of many. So, I was pleased to read this article today.
Researchers from Harvard Medical School have identified that those who eat whole-grain cereals for breakfast have a 28 per cent lower risk of developing heart failure. You need to be eating it 7 or more times a week, according to the report which is kind of interesting seeing there are only 7 days in a week ;)
There’s good news for those who eat whole-grain less than 7 times a week though with the study showing that the risk of heart failure falls 22 per cent in those who eat the cereals two to six times a week and by 14 per cent in those who eat them up to once week.

It’s good news for me. Now when I tell my friends that I like porridge and they screw their faces at me, I can hit them with a little bit of science!
