Okay, you should all know by now that I love technology.

Gadgets are my best friend. I love investigating the products, looking for reviews, finding the best price. And then when you get it home, it’s the anticipation of opening the package. Peeling off the layers of bubble wrap, stickers, manuals (which I don’t read), moulded plastic and cardboard. Then, the excitement of putting it altogether and finally, turning on your newly acquired gadget and sitting down to the very important task of exploring it’s features.

Oh yes, gadget heaven.

Of course, this had nothing really to do with the product I am talking today, sort of.

On to business then. So, just how much technology is too much technology?

For instance, while working out, is it important to be able to watch tv, check your email, do a bit of surfing, listen to custom radio stations and get a workout history? Well no, obviously it isn’t but you know something, more often than not when I’m working out, those things do cross my mind. I can be half way through doing some sit-ups and think, I wonder if I have email? I do watch tv when I workout and will listen to my ipod as well if I’m in the mood. Imagine being able to do all that on one console while working out.

With that in mind, I’d like to show you this really cool product called the Netpulse N3i Entertainment System. It’s designed to be installed onto exercise equipment and gives the user access to some pretty neat things. When you log into the system, you can access preset preferences. These are some of it’s features:

  • Favorite Email Users may set up the default e-mail with their own personal preference of e-mail service (Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, GMail, their own office web mail, etc.).
  • Favorite Web Sites Users are able to set up bookmarks to their favorite web sites and internet media locations so they are immediately accessible.
  • Favorite Search Engine Users may choose their own default search engine (Yahoo!, Google, etc.).
  • ‘Email Me’ Button When a user comes across information or a site on the web that want to come back to, it can be sent to their personal e-mail with the touch of a button.
  • Custom Internet Radio Users can set up their own personal radio station that will play songs based on their ratings of similar artists.

That’s just to name a few. Plus, you also get a keyboard! Seriously, that’s just cool! Oh, and it’s compatible with all exercise equipment. This little gem is designed for gyms to entice and keep members. But could you imagine buying one for home? Cool. I can just see it now, unpacking it from the box, taking off the plastic wrap..throwing away the manual…putting it together….heaven…
